Students in Tallahassee's Frenchtown neighborhood were gearing up for the classroom on Saturday (8/20).
The Back to School Jamboree took place at the Lawrence-Gregory Community Center on Dade Street. Various community outreach groups and the City of Tallahassee hosted the event, which drew hundreds of kids and their parents. Center Supervisor Gregory Grady said every child received all the material resources needed for school.
"Book bags, pencils, pens, pads, things of that nature to give to our kids in our community, just to enhance and improve, modify and make it nice for our kids to go back to school," he said.
There was also free clothing, entertainment and oceans of freshly-made popcorn.
