Local school principal and Tallahassee-based singer Star Swain is heading to the Democratic National Convention where she’ll sing the National Anthem Thursday. Swain made headlines earlier this summer when her impromptu performance at the Lincoln Memorial went viral. Since then, she’s performed the song at several events across the county.

“It’s been busy. Busy, Busy busy, non-stop," she said recently. "We have a lot going on this month.”

Swain’s performance is expected to be part of the broadcast segment of the convention in the run-up to Hilary Clinton’s address.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum is expected to address the convention in a speech Wednesday afternoon.
