After more than 40 years of having just one store in Tallahassee, the New Leaf Market Co-op has added a second location in the rapidly growing Northeast suburbs.
The new store in the Bannerman Crossing Shopping Center had its official grand opening on Saturday (5/7/16) and was wall-to-wall with customers throughout the day. New Leaf Interim General Manager Frank Worrell said the city's growth pattern made the decision to open a second store in that area an easy one.
“The demographics and the number of households in this area led the board to commission a market study and make the move,” he said.
Also happy with the new location were New Leaf food vendors like Jean Bates with Thomasville's Sweet Grass Dairy.
“We’re just really proud of New Leaf Market for expanding and being able to have this presence in Tallahassee and show off good food and we’re here to explain where your food comes from and close it really is to you,” Bates remarked while handing out complimentary slices of the dairy’s signature cheese to passers-by.
Since its founding, the co-op has worked closely with local food producers.
