Children’s Medical Services in Tallahassee is holding a free developmental screening for local kids. The tests are designed to assess a range of concerns from dental problems to autism. It is targeted for children 6-months to 5-years-old. Sarah McElhaney, a researcher from FSU’s Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine, says the screening is important for early intervention.
“That’s one of the wonderful things that we’re doing; being able to catch things early and get a child funneled into services to help mitigate what could perhaps become a problem later,” McElhaney says.
The free screening takes place April 8 at Children’s Medical Services and is limited to 50 spots.
