Disaster relief funds are on the way for two Panhandle Counties following severe storms and tornados last month.

Volunteer Florida and local organizations are partnering to send $100,000 in relief funds to Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Charlotte County, which is in south west Florida, will also be sharing those funds. Gov. Rick Scott is also lobbying the Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA for a Major Disaster Declaration for the two North Florida Counties. The federal agency has already denied an initial request for help with debris removal. The new request details the 264 homes that were destroyed or suffered serious damage from the storm. And in a release from his office Scott praises the efforts to rebuild the communities impacted have already made.
