Governors Square Mall was evacuated Saturday night after a fight and reports of gunshots disrupted holiday shopping. But Tallahassee Police say there's no evidence of gunfire, and that the mall will reopen Sunday.
Reports of gunshots and a fight outside the Dillard's wing of Governors Square Mall began coming into the Consolidated Dispatch Center around 7 p.m.
"Saw a fight and everyone started running away from the Dillard's wing," said Patrick Cannon, who works at the Helzberg Jewelry Store inside the mall.
An off-duty Leon County Sheriffs Deputy working in the mall also confirmed a fight outside Dillards.
"After clearing Dillards and the rest of the mall, we were advised by an off duty deputy of a fight just prior to the reports of disturbance, and an individual picking up a trash can and throwing it to the ground," said TPD Spokesman Officer Cleveland Allen.
He says officers detained but didn't arrest the person who threw the trashcan.
Allen says the Department is still reviewing surveillance footage to figure out what happened. There were no injuries, and the mall will re-open Sunday.
