Florida A&M University Board of Trustees member, Rufus Montgomery resigned Thursday. Montgomery is the third member of the board to step down since September.
Montgomery left his position as board chairman in October. Thursday he announced plans to leave the board all together. His resignation comes after a failed attempt to fire FAMU President Elmira Mangum. Montgomery was one of Mangum’s harshest critics. She’s faced back lash for a series of hiring and management decisions. But Mangum has received support from students as well as alums who have publicly urged Montgomery to step down.
