Cleve Warren Named FAMU BOT Chairman

Florida A&M University’s Board of Trustees has elected a new chairman to lead the group.

The Board elected Cleve Warren chairman unanimously Friday morning during a conference call. He replaces Rufus Montgomery who resigned the position last month after a failed effort to fire FAMU’s President.

Montgomery did not support Warren for the position, and said Warren’s his job as Chief financial officer of Florida State College in Jacksonville could be a conflict. Kelvin Lawson, who made the call to fire President Elmira Mangum, remains Vice Chairman of the Board.

Warren’s term expires in January unless he’s re-appointed by the Florida Board of Governors for another five year term.
