Administrative Building Named For Sheriff Campbell

Leon County Commissioners and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office unveiled the newly dedicated Larry Campbell Administration Building Tuesday. The Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to rename the building after Campbell passed away in December following a battle with cancer. Sheriff Michael Wood remembers Campbell as a strong leader.

“He really moved this organization forward, this sheriff’s office as it relates to community involvement. We are so involved in just every aspect of this community,” he said.

The dedication commemorates the late sheriff’s five decades of public service. First elected sheriff in 1996, Larry Campbell is remembered as a man of loyalty, good humor and tradition. For his colleagues and family, the dedication will serve as a reminder for years to come.

"The dedication of this building is a small token compared to the lifetime of service that he gave to this community and to this country," Sheriff Michael Wood intoned.
