Representative Graham Hosts Tallahassee Academy Day

Tallahassee City Hall hosted a Military Academy Day for area high school students on Saturday.  They were all hoping their member of Congress would recommend them for admittance.

More than a hundred students and their parents heard from military academy representatives like the Air Force's Lieutenant Colonel Cliff Palmer.

“Don’t wait another day wondering if you’re going to do this because time is of the essence,” he told them,

People from the Army, Navy and Coast Guard were there too, along with Patrick Paddock from the U-S Merchant Marine.

“A car carrier, a tanker like the Exxon, or container vessels, cable layers, passenger ships, those are all examples of the Merchant Marine,” he explained.

Taylor County High School Junior John Patterson already had his plans mapped out.

“I’m considering an active duty combat role in the United States Army, which is why I’m leaning towards West Point,” he said before heading to the Army’s information table.

Congresswoman Graham said another Military Academy Day happens this coming Saturday (8/29/15).

“Anyone who wasn’t able to make it here today should come to Panama City,” she said.  “It’s at the Bay County Administration Building.”

That will take place from twelve-thirty to three-thirty.
