A new cupcake shop opened Friday in Downtown Tallahassee. Its owners ranged in age from 5-to-15.
For one afternoon only the Oasis Sweet and Treats cupcake shop opened for business.
Ayleah is one the 13 campers at the Oasis Center for Women and Girl’s summer camp called, Girls Can Do Anything. For their “Girls Mean Business” week, the girls are learning about spending, saving, and giving. The campers designed a business plan, and voted to donate half of their profits to issues they care about in the community. Camp Director CeCe Graham and camper Ayleah said the money they make will do good things.
“They are gonna keep half of the money and they’re gonna divide it up between all 13 of them and then the other half, who are we donating to?” CeCe asked.
Ayleah said the profits would be going to The Leon County Humane Society.
The Executive Director for the Oasis Center, Hayley Cutler, hopes the event helped participants learn from local female entrepreneurs.
