Leon County Libraries in Good Standing Despite Funding Cuts

Libraries across the Big Bend lost funding during the state’s recent budgeting process. But the Leon County library system is ready to make adjustments.

Leon County libraries have been anticipating the cuts. They lost $41,000 when the state cut the State Aid to Libraries Grant. But Library Director Cay Hohmeister says the loss in funding won’t have a big impact on library operations.

“They anticipated a reduction, and we’ll just make it work," says Hohmeister. "The library’s budget is $6.5 million and I think our library users and citizens in Leon County can certainly expect to receive the same amount of services.”

Other counties affected by funding cuts include: Franklin, Gadsden, and Madison.
