North Florida Congresswoman Gwen Graham is urging the social security administration to reopen a Gadsden office she says was shuttered without any community input.
Graham says she’s heard from constituents who are facing difficulty now that the Gadsden office is closed. She says not everyone has access to the internet. And she says for some getting to the next closest social security office in Tallahassee is difficult. Graham says the government shouldn’t be creating roadblocks for seniors once they’re eligible for social security. The social security office’s website says seniors can get services over-the-phone or online. The Gadsden County location closed in March of 2014. Officials estimate the closure will save the administration $3-million over the next decade.
