Florida AG Bondi Expresses Condolences In National Guard Helicopter Crash

Florida officials are expressing condolences to the families of Marines and National Guardsmen presumed dead after a deadly crash near Santa Rosa.

The Marines were from Camp LeJune and helicopter grew were Louisiana National Guardsmen.

The Army National Guard helicopter went down with seven marines and a crew of four last night. This morning, search and rescue teams reported finding debris and human remains washing ashore. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi expressed condolences to the families of the servicemen.

"All of us want to express our sympathy. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the 11 servicemen who were in the helicopter crash right here in Florida," she said. "We all want to respect the and their families and our prayers go out to the families involved.”  

The 11 people were part of a training exercise at Eglin Air Force Base in the western Florida panhandle. Air force officials are investigating the crash and are looking whether heavy fog in the area played a role.
