The director of Franklin County’s Parks and Recreation department has been arrested, after confessing to stealing registration fees from several area youth football teams.
Days before Catherine Millender’s arrest, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies received several calls from concerned parents about the Youth Football Registration fees for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
After looking at copies of deposits made by the Franklin County Parks Director and comparing them to the number of kids registered to participate in the league, detectives found the numbers didn’t add up.
Deputies say when questioned about the discrepancy Tuesday, Millender later confessed. She’s now facing two counts of Grand Theft in the third degree and could face up to ten years in prison.
