Valdosta State Offers In-State Tuition To Florida Border County Residents

Florida Residents in some counties bordering Georgia can go to school at Valdosta State University and pay in-state tuition.

The in-state rate applies to residents of Leon, Baker, Columbia, Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison and Nassau counties. That comes to about $3,500 a year for a person who takes 15 credit hours a semester, about the same as what it would  cost to attend Florida State.

“One thing we’re really excited about getting to do this is, is that we get to share with people who we may not have been on their radar as far as colleges, but all the opportunities we have at Valdosta State,"' says Ryan Hogan, Associate Director of Admissions at VSU.

VSU began offering the in-state tuition option last fall. This time around Hogan is hoping more students will take advantage of it. The in-state rate applies to both graduate and undergraduate degrees.
