Teenagers have a lot of free time on their hands over the summer, but for those without wheels it can feel like being grounded. Tallahassee’s StarMetro bus service has a plan to help them beat the cabin fever.
Without a car, getting from point A to point B in Tallahassee can be a challenge no matter what time of year it is. When the mercury climbs into the 90s, it becomes even more difficult. That’s why, city spokeswoman Heather Teter says, StarMetro is offering a multi-month pass to help kids 17 and under get around town during the summer.
“The great thing about the StarMetro Summer Wheels Pass is that it gives freedom to kids and independence for parents,” Teter says. “With the summer wheels pass, kids can have the freedom to go all over Tallahassee and not have to worry about their parents' carting them around or giving them a ride.”
Teter says the summer-long permit is cheaper than a one-month unlimited pass, and it can be picked up at C.K. Steele Plaza downtown or StarMetro’s administrative offices on Appleyard Drive. Passes will be available until Aug. 4 and will be honored on city buses until Aug. 31.
