Florida State University President Eric Barron, who confirmed over the weekend he plans to take the job, is set to be announced as the next president of Penn State University at a midday news conference.
The event can be heard via a live stream on the website of NPR member station WPSU.
Barron spent two decades at Penn State, the last four years of which as one of the University's deans, and spoke fondly of his time there even after taking his current job.
FSU trustees have scheduled what they called "an emergency meeting" for this Wednesday, likely to address how Barron's spot will be filled.
In his new job, Barron will oversee a much larger university budget than was his purview at FSU. Penn State has about twice as many students in its statewide system as FSU does, and spends about $4 billion annually.
