Republican and Tea Party favorite, Mike Hill has defeated Democratic challenger Jeremy Lau for House District 2’s seat that was once occupied by Representative Clay Ford, until his passing in March. Hill will the lone African American Republican in the Florida legislature.

Meanwhile, the Department of Children and Families is hosting a webinar to explain changes to foster care laws, such as a bill passed in the previous session that allows kids to stay with their foster families up to the age of 21 instead of 18.

And Florida Fish and Wildlife officials are again warning Floridians about “leaping fish.”
