The Leon County Commission is considering a proposal to let construction crews get started earlier—even during what would normally be quiet hours under the local noise ordinance.
Right now, Leon County quiet hours start at eight in the evening and run until seven in the morning. That can make it hard to get some construction projects done, especially projects, like pouring concrete, that need to be done when it’s not too hot or humid. Commissioner Kristin Dozier said that makes for bit of a balancing act.
“I think we need to consider ways to change the ordinance within that balance between the neighbor’s good and good of the construction project that’s going forward,” Dozier said.
Dozier said she’s hopeful a compromise can be reached. The commission delayed making a decision on the proposal during this week’s meeting, and is asking its staff to further study the issue.
