The newly renovated stretch of Capital Circle Southwest is now open. The City of Tallahassee and Leon County held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday to highlight the road’s grand reopening.

Officials say the road rebuilding project finished six months ahead of schedule, and attribute the success to a group effort between federal, state, and local governments.  Tallahassee City Commissioner Nancy Miller said the project has helped revitalized the region’s economy.

“At this point in time, when people really needed work, it was just a God send, truly, that this project was in the works, we were able to get the funding for it, and we were able to put eighteen hundred people to work on this project.” Miller said.

Eight million of the $10 million in funding came from the Federal Recovery A

ct.  The new construction includes car lanes, bike paths, sidewalks, and medians, along with new storm drainage facilities alongside the new roads.
