Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell Wins Re-Election

It's official: Larry Campbell wins another term as Leon County's Sheriff. After a heated race between Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell and challenger Lisa Sprague, 69 percent of voters chose Campbell to stay in office. Sprague ran attack ads claiming Campbell covered up murders, but Campbell says Leon County voters weren’t fooled.

“I think it goes to show that we’re a very mature county. And mudslinging and dirt-digging and false accusations are not going to be accepted by the people up here. They want professional law enforcement representation based on experience,” Campbell said.

With the election over, Campbell says he’s turning his focus back toward building a new jail, which will cost around $100 million.
