Diver's body pulled from underwater cave

Rescuers pulled the body of SCUBA diver Joshua Cox from an underwater cave Sunday afternoon in the Wacissa River. On Saturday, Cox’s friend reported him missing after he didn’t resurface from the dive. Officers called rescue diver Edd Sorenson to find Cox.

“He was just an open water diver. He had no overhead training. We have certain rules that we live by so to speak, but he just broke numerous numerous numerous rules and the one thing is he had no idea what he was doing when he had no business being in there. And, you know, that’s just an accident waiting to happen.” say Sorenson.

Sorenson says Cox made the dangerous move of taking off his buoyancy control device in order to fit into the cave. He says cave diving is fun and safe with the proper training.
