Tallahassee Police Ask for Help Fighting Gang Activity

Almost a year after Tallahassee Police initiated “Operation See Change”, police have nearly wiped out open air drug markets along the Alabama Street corridor. But, officers are still struggling with gang-related crime, from graffiti to violence.

“Why do certain neighborhoods have open-air drug markets? While other neighborhoods don’t have that?  It’s really the citizens that have to be the ones to report it. Same thing with gang activity, you know we have to be notified. We can’t be aware of it all unless someone is calling about it. So, it’s just look at the signs, know what the signs are,” said Tallahassee Police Chief Dennis Jones.

TPD says it can can only do so much without help from the community.  The law enforcement agency is urging citizens to report suspicious activity.
