Tallahassee, FL – The Tallahassee Memorial Breast Health Center has been granted national accreditation under the American college of surgeons. Regan McCarthy reports the center's accreditation will last for the next three years and it's the only Breast Health center with that designation in the Big Bend area.
Tallahassee Memorial Breast Health Center officials say they'll be able to deliver even better care. The hospital's Cancer Center Administrator Matt Sherer says the center won the recognition by meeting about 30 standards set by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Speaking from personal experience with breast cancer, State University System Chancellor Frank Brogan joined the celebration.
"My late wife Mary and I enjoined in an incredible journey as she developed breast cancer and was treated here by an incredible staff and ultimately ran out of time two years later."
A national accreditation requires the hospital to provide high quality services in all aspects of breast care ranging from diagnosis to recovery procedures like plastic surgery.
