Tallahassee, FL – The number of Internet cafes in Leon County is not half of what it was just five months ago. Tom Flanigan reports county officials are crediting an ordinance that requires the cafes to have county permits.

Back in early June there were 33 internet cafes in the county. On June 15th, the county's permitting ordinance took effect and enforcement of the ordinance began September first. After the ordinance kicked in, a total of 18 cafes applied for the permit and 17 of them were approved. Those establishments were grandfathered in under the ordinance, which sets a limit of only ten more facilities countywide. The ordinance also sets standards as to where and how the cafes can conduct their operations.
