Tallahassee, FL – Hundreds of people in the Big Bend area participated in a life-size Monopoly game on Thursday as part of the United Way's 69th Annual Community campaign. As Sascha Cordner reports, it's all part of an effort to unveil this year's contribution goal.
This year's goal is just over 6-million dollars. United Way's Campaign Chairman Bill Colledge dressed up as Mr. Monopoly, the mascot banker of the game. He says the Monopoly theme is most likely their most interactive theme yet:
"It's a wonderful way in which through a Monopoly type game setting, you can get a lot of people involved in an interactive process and get a lot of people involved in some interaction with specific agencies and areas of concern in our community."
Colledge says though he wants people to have fun as they stopped at the different booths, he also wants people to walk away with a better understanding of the role the United Way plays in the community. Some of the groups with booths included Children's Home Society of Florida and Read United.
