Tallahassee, FL – Tallahassee Memorial Hospital has opened a new Outpatient Recovery Center. As Sascha Cordner reports, the goal is to make into a comprehensive treatment center.
It's expected to turn into a one-stop shop treatment center, and has already started offering counseling for substance abuse. Doctor Jeffrey Ferraro runs the center and says they not only help patients detox from alcohol or drugs, but also provide a follow-up to help maintain that sobriety.
"We just encourage family members as well as patients if they are struggling with addiction that help is available and help is effective. And, we're committed here at the recovery center to offering the best treatment out there in regards to comprehensive substance abuse care."
About 22 million people suffer from substance abuse or dependence across the nation. In Florida, about 9 people a day die from pain medication overdoses. The Outpatient Recovery Center is located beside the Tallahassee Memorial Chronic Pain Management Clinic on Capital Medical Boulevard.
