Tallahassee, FL – Lots of kids go to summer camp. But Tom Flanigan reports some very special young people will soon be attending a Tallahassee summer camp that's every bit as special as they are.

More than a hundred youngsters, all foster kids from Northwest Florida, will be camping on the campus of Florida State University.

"I'm Maitlen and this is my first year of going to this camp and I'm really excited."

Former Florida State - now NFL football great Corey Simon - feels the same way.

"I'm excited. I can stand here all day and get fired up about these kids and what they're going to do when they step on campus."

Simon is the camp's main sponsor. Florida Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkens says this is one of several.

"So we have created six camps this year. Maybe next year it'll be twelve camps, but we want to keep growing this and growing this."

The "Camps for Champions" has many sports-related activities for the kids, along with self-esteem and character-building programs.
