Tallahassee, FL – Once again, a Tallahassee law firm is helping local police and schools convince more young drivers to use their safety belts. Tom Flanigan the winners of the yearly seat belt competition were announced Tuesday morning.
Fonville, Lewis, Foote and Messer partner Jim Messer announced the winners.
"Most improved seat belt use, Godby High School improved to seventy-three percent."
Godby Principal Jean Ferguson was happy to get that title and accompanying cash prize, although she said the credit went to the students.
"That's a great day at Godby High School and so this is just a token I want to say for all of their hard work."
Messer: "Highest seat belt usage this year, with ninety-six percent, Maclay High School."
Maclay student Zach Grayson credited the school's adult leadership.
"Guess our deans and administration; they give us subtle hints now and a little more not subtle."
The results came from regular spot checks by Tallahassee Police at the school's exit ways.
