Tallahassee, FL – Three years ago, the Tallahassee headquarters of the Florida Sheriffs Association literally went up in flames. On Tuesday, the association officially opened its new building as Tom Flanigan reports.
Replacing the old structure is a two-story, seventeen thousand square foot headquarters building. It features offices, a large training facility and, despite its size, fits comfortably in the association's heavily wooded lot on Mahan Drive. The association's Immediate Past President, Sumter County Sheriff Bill Farmer, was among the speakers.
"As we stand here today, we look at FSA Headquarters, but we also look at the wonderful memorial to our fallen heroes right here in front of us. The new building complements the memorial and together they become a lasting tribute to the men and women who sacrificed so much for the people of this great state and the sheriffs of Florida, both past and present."
Nearly half-a-million dollars in contributions from association members and their supporters made the new facility possible.
