Tallahasse, FL – Florida A & M University will host a soon-to-be Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. Lynn Hatter reports Dr. Maya Angelou will speak at the university Wednesday evening.

Angelou is best known for her autobiographies and her poetry, having been the first poet to speak at a Presidential Inaugural since Robert Frost at John F. Kennedy's Inauguration. Angelou did a recitation for Bill Clinton, and has been active in politics in some form for most of her life. She says she plans on having a conversation about courage.

"You may not hear me use the word, I might, I might not. It's always about courage. It's the most important of all the virtues. Because without courage you can't practice any other virtue with consistently."

The event will be at FAMU's Lawson Center. Angelou is set to receive the Medal of Freedom next month from President Barack Obama.
