Tallahassee, FL – Outgoing Gov. Charlie Crist quickly left the state capital after the inauguration of his successor, Gov. Rick Scott. As James Call reports, Crist wouldn't comment on his future plans, but said he remains hopeful and happy.
As he made his way across the capitol grounds to a waiting car, Charlie Crist was stopped by people wanting hugs and handshakes. He leaves office with a 50 percent approval rating, according to Public Policy Polling, his highest of the year. A single term as governor capped an 18-year career in state government for Crist. When asked about leaving the capital as a private citizen, Crist quickly put attention back on the newly elected governor.
"Hopeful, happy and a little relieved to be honest," he said. "I'm very excited for the new governor, and I think he will certainly do a good job and work hard for the people of Florida. It is a tough time to come into office, but I know Governor Scott will put his full effort into it.
