Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Supreme Court has affirmed a lower court ruling allowing Amendment 8 to stay on the November ballot. The proposal was placed there by lawmakers and would loosen the class size caps in public schools. As Lynn Hatter reports, now that the amendment is on the ballot to stay, supporters are turning their attention to getting it passed on Election Day.

Supporters of Amendment 8 say they're pleased with the Supreme Court's ruling. Ryan Banfill is with the "Yes on 8" campaign.

"Amendment 8 is all about increasing local control. It's about providing flexibility in addressing the class size amendment, and we look forward to bringing this case to the people of Florida and getting a yes vote on eight in November."

The amendment was opposed by the state teacher's union, which said it would result in a funding cut for public schools. The measure now heads to voters and needs 60-percent of them to approve it, but recent polls show it falling below that threshold.
