Tallahassee, FL – Tallahassee's Challenger Learning Center is installing the area's largest "3-D" IMAX screen. Tom Flanigan reports it means a major upgrade for the entire theater.
Sunday morning, a small army of movers and technicians was ferrying equipment from a semi-truck to the theater.
"I don't care how you do it," said one crew leader. "Just get them upstairs."
There are new digital IMAX projectors, a gigantic 72' by 50' 3-D compatible screen, the largest made. And the center's Jessie Riley says there's even a brand new, ultra-power sound system.
"People forget about the sound because the screen is so big, but the sound is one of the most incredible parts of the IMAX experience because it's coming through the screen, from the side, and the back, AND it's 18,000 watts!"
Far and away the most powerful cinematic sound system in the area. The all-new digital 3-D IMAX experience is expected to debut at the Challenger Learning Center Oct. 1.
