Tallahassee, FL – Florida's Chief Financial Officer filed qualifying papers Wednesday in her bid for governor.

While Republican candidates Bill McCollum and Rick Scott have been getting a lot of attention in their primary battle, Alex Sink is the leading Democrat in the race. Outside the Division of Elections office in Tallahassee, she told supporters she has a plan to revive the state's economy.

"When you provide incentives for small businesses, which is what my plan is built around, then that creates jobs, and those jobs then create a better economy. Those people are put back to work if you will. They're spending money. They're putting money back into the economy which then flows back into the state coffers."

Sink says more efficiency is needed, since there is still plenty of waste in state government. She also didn't seem concerned about the recently announced independent bid by Bud Chiles, son of the late Governor Chiles, saying anyone can run.
