Florida AG: No Further Action on Martin Lee Anderson Case

Tallahassee, FL – After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the death of 14-year old Martin Lee Anderson, Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum says his office has exhausted its legal options and can do no more.

But I am very supportive and will continue to be pressing for whatever appropriate sanctions that may be involved, in order that the end to this be resolved in a way that the parents particularly want to see that those that are involved are appropriately disciplined.

In October a Panama City jury acquitted all seven guards and nurse of manslaughter. Anderson was roughed up by guards at the camp as the nurse stood and watched. McCollum says he's asking state licensing authorities to start or continue investigations that will hold the parties at fault. A federal civil rights investigation is ongoing.
