Florida’s Attorney General Ashley Moody is warning Floridians of a recent COVID-19 scam. These scam messages state that people won’t get their coronavirus stimulus check if they don’t fill out the 2020 census. The message then has a link to a fake website directing people to give out personal information.

For communities still recovering from Hurricane Michael, the 2020 census comes at a bad time. Bay County officials worry they could lose millions of dollars and are trying to make sure everyone gets counted.

A year out from the 2020 U.S. Census, some Florida Democratic lawmakers are calling for a question concerning citizenship to be scrubbed from the census form. And one bill waiting for a committee hearing looks to push for an accurate count.

Nearly 600-thousand unmarried Florida couples are sleeping under the same roof, and according to Florida statutes, they’re breaking the law. Now, one lawmaker is seeking to repeal what he calls an archaic rule.

The state law prohibiting cohabitation has been on Florida’s books since the 1800s. But Weston’s first-term, Democratic State Representative Richard Stark said he didn’t know about the law until a student asked him about repealing it during a high school bill-writing contest.

Tallahassee’s bustling midtown district is home to popular bars, quirky businesses and according to new federal data, a hot jobs market.

New data from the U.S. Census Bureau listed the 32312 area code as the best place in Florida for young people to find jobs. Tallahassee officials have worked for years to diversity the local economy and have focused their attention in the area around the state capitol building. But Tallahassee City Commissioner Gil Ziffer says the Midtown and Thomasville Road area pretty much happened on its own.
