The new law blocks cities and counties from approving burdensome or restrictive changes to growth plans. A Leon County circuit judge is slated to hear arguments Friday.

During a meeting Tuesday, Leon Commissioners approved some changes to the comprehensive plan, but the county decided not to move forward with a proposed change for about 1,100 acres near Southwood and Old St. Augustine Road.

A zoning change involving about ten acres is proposed along Thomasville Rd. between Kerry Forest Parkway and Velda Dairy Rd.
