Florida lawsuit

A federal judge has rejected a potential class-action lawsuit that alleged the state has discriminated against historically Black FAMU in issues such as funding and programs.

The plaintiffs now range in age from 12 to 22. They allege the state is violating their constitutional rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They say state leaders are causing harm by perpetuating an energy system based on fossil fuels – and not doing enough to mitigate climate change.
