The Leon County Commission dealt with two tech topics Tuesday that have sparked loud public conversations across the country: large-scale data centers and Flock cameras.

Data centers that power artificial intelligence are being built around the country to significant outcry over their utility and water usage.

Jackson County commissioners voted unanimously to pass a ban on all data center infrastructure in the area. The ban begins June 23rd.

The bill reinforces the ability of local governments to refuse to build AI data centers in their jurisdictions.
