Several weeks ago, the Capital Tiger Bay Club hosted most of the Republican candidates running for North Florida's Second Congressional District. This week it was the Democrats' turn.
The region's growing aversion to AI data centers was a big issue for Nick Zateslo, who has a deep background in such things and said it's a bi-partisan concern.
"There's folks with Bernie Sanders stickers and Gulf of America tee shirts hanging out in Marianna talking about what we should do to get me elected and stop this stuff, and they forgot to hate each other."
Yen Bailey called for a corruption investigation against the Trump administration.
"Any government that is opposed to accountability should raise red flags for us."
Brice Barnes said not all of her positions are in lockstep with her party.
"I've never shied away from taking controversial positions, even when it could be politically risky for my campaign."
Amanda Marie Green worried about the district's shrinking access to healthcare.
"We've got Medicaid cuts, we have 133,000 people receiving Medicaid cuts right now just here across North Florida's Second Congressional District."
One of these contenders will win the Democratic nomination during the August 18th election. Meanwhile, there are a total of eight candidates trying to win next Tuesday's Republican primary.
