The many spontaneous jam sessions that spring up around the festival grounds attract spectators - and performers - of all ages.

The Florida Folk Festival happens this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 22-24) in White Springs, Florida near the I-75/I-10 interchange east of Tallahassee. One of the event's long-time performers and promoters is Tallahassee's own salt water troubadour Del Suggs. He's been performing at the festival for much of its 74-year run. And he says other local artists will be appearing at this year's event.

"We're really fortunate because this year on the main stage we have some acts that have a lot of local Tallahassee connection. For example, Melody Trucks and the Fritzee Brothers will be performing on Saturday night. And a lot of people know Melody because she grew up here in Tallahassee."

Melody also happens to be the daughter of Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks. More than 300 performances happen during the three-day festival.
