Post-Session, Florida Conservation Voters Talks Budget, Galvano's Highways Project

Florida Conservation Voters Facebook

The 2019 Legislative Session has wrapped, and advocacy group Florida Conservation Voters is weighing in on the highlights — and lowlights — of the past two months. Ryan Dailey spoke with FCV Deputy Director Jonathan Webber about the budget and some other big-ticket items that have him concerned.

QUESTIONS:

What are some of the things you found encouraging this Session?

Gov. DeSantis got kudos from a number of environmental advocates after rolling out his proposed environmental budget prior to Session. How do you feel the final product of environmental budget stacks up against the Governor’s recommendations?

Talk a bit about Florida Forever, and how its funding was affected this year?

Are there projects under the umbrella of Florida Forever, that could be in jeopardy based on that?

Senate President Bill Galvano championed a plan to construct major toll highways through what he calls the rural “spine” of the state. What do you make of that plan?
