Just hours before Governor Rick Scott cedes his seat to Governor-elect Ron DeSantis, Scott is announcing new appointments to state departments.

During the four o’clock hour on his last day in office, Scott put a slew of nominations, including seats on the state Board of Medicine, the Florida Transportation Commission and district and county judges.

This brings the number of last-minute appointments to near 90.

The outgoing governor announced almost 80 appointments late in the evening last Friday. The seats oversee everything from colleges to the film industry.

Some posts require Senate approval, and DeSantis can cancel those selections at any time.
