Irma Recovery Signals: Tolls Back, Parks Open

MCM

Some good news and bad news signal Florida state government is slowly returning to normal in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

First, the bad news. Governor Rick Scott says tolls will once again be collected on the Florida Turnpike and other state toll roads beginning Thursday.

Now the good news. The Florida Park Service says 101 parks and campgrounds are now open, although 66 remain closed for repairs or safety reasons.

The Big Bend parks open for business include the Florida Caverns in Jackson County, Wakulla Springs, and Tallahassee’s Maclay Gardens.  In Gulf County, Bald Point and Dr. Julian Bruce State Park on St. George Island, are also open.
