Lawmakers wanted a Capitol Complex advisory council after engineers discovered structural failures in parking garages under the House and Senate. But Gov. Rick Scott doesn't see the need.
Parking in downtown Tallahassee has always been tight, but the headache got worse last summer when engineers discovered garages under the Capitol were leaking.
Lawmakers didn’t want to be caught off guard again, so they proposed a council made up of the sergeant of arms of both chambers.
Scott and House and Senate leaders would each appoint an additional member.
But Scott nixed the idea. In his veto message, Scott says the council would create unnecessary delays in ongoing repairs and improvements.
