Republican Senator Denise Grimsley is getting out ahead of the pack—announcing her candidacy for Agriculture Commissioner in 2018.

Sen. Denise Grimsley (R-Sebring) will run to replace Florida’s outgoing Ag Commissioner Adam Putnam.  In an announcement Wednesday the registered nurse and citrus grower highlighted the need for growing jobs within the industry and developing better statewide water policy.

A handful of other Republicans are considering a bid of their own including Rep. Halsey Beshears (R-Monticello).  What’s next for Putnam?  He’s widely viewed as a GOP candidate for governor in 2018.
