An indignant federal judge is turning down a request by Gretna Racing to reconsider his recent ruling in favor of Seminole casinos.
In a sharply worded order, District Judge Robert Hinkle said the tiny, Gadsden County facility has no right to intervene in the case, which involved a dispute over the state’s Seminole gambling compact.
Greatna Racing argued Hinkle’s decision to disallow “designated player” card games puts officers at the Gadsden County facility at risk of being prosecuted. But Hinkle called the request to intervene, “untimely” and “otherwise inadvisable.”
Meanwhile, Greatna Racing is waiting for the Florida Supreme Court to decide whether it can offer slots machines already approved by local voters.
