Congresswoman Graham Co-Sponsoring HBCU Scholarship Bill

Gwen Graham's twitter

North Florida Democrat Gwen Graham is on her way out of Congress but she’s speaking in support of a scholarship program for land grant HBCUs.

Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Graham is co-sponsoring a measure supporting agricultural studies at 19 historically black colleges and universities.  Graham says the bill would help Florida A&M University further its mission.

“What Florida A&M is doing is helping young people get into the field of agriculture,” she says, “and it’s such a critically important area as the age of those that are in agriculture goes up we need to encourage young people to get into this wonderful field.”

The bill appropriates a million dollars annually to the schools for five years.  But it faces an uphill climb with only a week remaining in the lame duck session.
